Exciting News: A New Starbucks is Coming to Hermitage!

A crowd of people stands outside a Starbucks, anticipating the grand opening of the new Hermitage location.

HERMITAGE – Great news for coffee lovers! Plans for a second Starbucks in Hermitage are moving forward after the city’s Board of Commissioners gave it the green light. The new Starbucks will be built at 2079 E. State St., Hermitage. It’s planned to have a 2,400-square-foot building, a cozy 576-square-foot outdoor patio, and other updates to the area, as shown in city documents.

During a meeting on May 24, the commissioners all agreed to the plan, which is a big step forward. The location, at the corner of East State Street and North Buhl Farm Drive, used to be where a Denny’s restaurant stood. That Denny’s closed in February 2020 and was torn down in April 2022.

If everything goes as planned, this new Starbucks will join the existing one near Hobby Lobby at 3342 E. State St., giving Hermitage two Starbucks locations!

Approval Process So Far

Before the commissioners voted, the Hermitage Planning Commission reviewed and approved the plan earlier in May. They had a few ideas for improving the building’s design and granted two zoning exceptions for parking and connections between properties.

Graham Ferry from the Wallace Pancher Group explained at the planning meeting that this Starbucks isn’t replacing the old one; it’s just adding another spot for people to enjoy their favorite drinks.

When Will It Open?

Hermitage City Manager Gary Hinkson was asked about the opening date but said it’s still unknown. Right now, Starbucks officials are finishing a few details needed to finalize the land development plan. Once that’s done, they’ll record the plan and get a building permit, bringing the new Starbucks closer to becoming a reality.

A Fresh Start for an Old Spot

The new Starbucks will transform the site where Denny’s once stood into a lively coffee shop. The Planning Commission worked with Starbucks to ensure the design fits well with the area and meets local rules. Their teamwork shows a shared goal of creating a space that looks great and works well for everyone.

Graham Ferry emphasized that the new Starbucks will work alongside the existing one, giving coffee fans in Hermitage more options to enjoy their drinks and snacks. This expansion shows how much people love Starbucks and highlights the city’s growth.

Looking Ahead

Even though the opening date isn’t set, Starbucks is working hard to finish the final steps. Once they’re done, the construction can start, and Hermitage residents can get excited about having another place to enjoy their coffee.

The new Starbucks will not only serve tasty drinks but also become a place for people to hang out, connect, and make memories. It’s an exciting addition that will bring more energy to Hermitage’s growing coffee culture.

So, get ready, Hermitage! It won’t be long before the smell of freshly brewed Starbucks coffee fills the air, welcoming everyone to this brand-new coffee hub.
